Masaaki Homma founded mastermind JAPAN in 1997, combining the “M” in his own name with an homage to his father, a master hairdresser. The brand’s iconic skull logo represents the battle between good and evil, reflected in the motto, “Don’t Give Up Your Dream Until You Die.” mastermind JAPAN gained an international reputation for luxury gothic designs featuring rhinestones and premium materials, as well as seasonal crossover collections with world-renowned design houses. In 2003, the brand launched its first independent fashion show in Paris, kicking off a new trend in casual luxury.
